Scholars Corner:

Roman Leapheart, a 5th grade scholar at the ACE Lower Campus, is invited to travel and study abroad with People to People. Study includes traveling to England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales in the summer of 2012.  Roman will join 5th and 6th grade students from the greater Kansas City region as part of People to People, an educational exploration program founded by President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Roman will stretch beyond the ordinary travel experience through unique access to people and places available only to Student Ambassadors.  Participation benefits students by opening their eyes to the world, the experience sets them apart on college applications and enhances consideration for awards and scholarships.

The ACE Collegium Campus "Lower Campus" 2011-2012 school year consist of Pre-Kindergarten thru Grade 5 Villages. It is located at 6410 Swope Parkway in Kansas City, Missouri. The school phone is 816-418-1175. The 2011-2012 New Site Administrator is Mama Joyce Jennings, the Assistant Site Administrator is Ms. Gwendolyn Hooks. Instructional Coaches are Mama Helen Tellis & Mama Tracy Abbott.

Pre-Kindergarten (age 3) through Grade 2 component prepares students early for the requirements of upcoming grades. Scholars learn both cultural & socialization concepts that build up self-esteem.

Grades 3 thru 5 Villages move into the Inquiry Mode. Classes cover African scientists, society, numerical systems, readings from the MAAFA period and introductions to learning skills such as note taking and research/study skills.

Support classes include African aesthetics, sounds, dance, computer classes (word processing) and basics in the Kiswahili Language. Many classes will be taught to 1^st and 2^nd graders, earlier than many other school curriculums allow.
